Building Permits
Building permits are required for any:
- construction
- alteration
- repair
- demolition
Building Permits are required for, but not limited to:
- construction of new buildings and structures
- alteration, reconstruction, demolition, removal, relocation and occupancy of existing buildings and structures
- installation of a manufactured home
- installation of a wood or pellet stove
- porches/sundecks
- roofing
Building Permits are NOT required for:
- clearing stoppages or repairing leaks in pipes, valves, or fixtures, or hot water tanks
- painting
- construction of a garden shed having a ground floor area less than 10 square metres
- replacing windows
Building Permit Fees
| Commercial, Industrial and Institutional | $6.00 per $1000 value |
| Residential (includes dwellings, garages, and porches) | $6.00 per $1000 value |
| Manufactured Home - Single Wide | $75.00 |
| Manufactured Home - Double Wide | $150.00 |
| Wood Burning Appliance and Chimney | $75.00 |
| Moving a Building | $6.00 per $1000 value |
| Demolition of Buildings and Structures | $6.00 per $1000 value |
| Other Inspections (including minor repairs, additions, and alterations) | $6.00 per $1000 value |
| Change of Occupancy | $100 plus 0.6% of construction value |
| Cancellation of Note Against Land Title | $200.00 |
| Minimum Permit Fee | $50.00 |
