Zoning Amendment Bylaw No. 1102, 2025

NOTICE OF FIRST READING

Notice is hereby given that the First Reading of “Zoning Amendment Bylaw No. 1102, 2025” will take place during the Village of Burns Lake Council Meeting on January 13, 2026.

"Village of Burns Lake Zoning Bylaw No. 880, 2008” is proposed to be amended by Bylaw No. 1102, 2025, that would increase the maximum density permitted from 60 units per hectare to 74 units per hectare, and would decrease the minimum floor area required for one-bedroom units from 65 m2 to 55 m2 and for two-bedroom units from 72 m2 to 70 m2.

The purpose of this bylaw is to allow the construction of a seniors’ housing apartment building that is designed to meet BC Housing requirements for density and unit size. This property is located at 405 8th Avenue and is legally described as “Lot 35 District Lot 537 Range 5 Coast District Plan PRP13907” comprising approximately 0.5 ha (1.235 acres). The subject property is shown cross-hatched and labelled “Subject Property” on the map below.

Any persons who believe that their interest may be affected by the proposed bylaw may provide a written submission by email to village@burnslake.ca, by mail to PO Box 570, Burns Lake, BC, V0J 1E0 or in person to the Village of Burns Lake municipal office located at 15 3rd Avenue. Written submissions must be received by the Village of Burns Lake no later than January 13, 2026, at 1:00 pm to be ensured of consideration at the meeting. 

A copy of the bylaw and other relevant information may be inspected at the municipal office between the hours of 8:00 A.M. - 4:00 P.M., Monday through Friday, excluding holidays.  A copy of the bylaw and other relevant information will also be made available online at https://www.burnslake.ca/community/news
